Today, after a little more than 11 years of ministry, I walked out of my office at Maiden Lane Church of God for the final time. To say that it was an emotional experience is an understatement -- so many life-changing conversations (for ME) happened in that place; its difficult to find words adequate to thank God for how Hes transformed me through the pastoral office. Im leaving aware of how very little I actually know, and thankful that the less I know, the greater my faith is stretched. Im leaving exceedingly blessed by so many precious people who entrusted their stories to me, who walked the Jesus Road with me, and who graciously allowed me to serve them as pastor and friend. Ive been privileged to unite couples in marriage, preside at funerals, dedicate children, baptize many, celebrate with and weep with countless individuals who have become my family. I leave with memories full and rich, tears cascading and abundant, and joy for the new tomorrows of ministry. I look forward to remembering those times with the congregation one final time this Sunday. I begin a new chapter with Marriage Resource Center and Im excited. Rather than shepherd a congregation, Im called to serve an entire community. And while this new journey will call for greater faith, deeper trust and harder work, in the going and coming, the ending and beginning, MY GOD is the same yesterday, today and forever.
