Today as part of the Lower Eastern Governors joint activities I joined Makueni Governor H.E Prof. Kivutha Kibwana and Kitui Governor H.E Dr. Julius Malombe for the launch of Yikisemei ECDE and Primary School, Nguumo ward in Makueni County. The School is a flagship project for Government of Makueni. Our region has since independence lagged behind due to poor and selfish leadership. As the three Governors of the lower Eastern region, we have resolved to unite for development and change for the common good of our people. We want to bring water, create jobs for our youth among other things. Recently, our counties have experienced unique and well coordinated attempts to destabilize them. It has not escaped us that whereas some senior political figures in our region speak of unity in public, they have orchestrated plots to impeach Governors so as to slow and derail development in Ukambani-we refuse to be cowed in these machinations. A time has come for us as Governors to lead from the forefront and place our region in its rightful place. We have agreed to speak one language-the language of development. We are also in the process of organizing an inter-counties meeting with our people, elected leaders and opinion leaders to evaluate our current position as a region. In this forum, we will seek to shape our political future as a community. We will also support the will of the people of Makueni and in the event that the Government of Makueni County is dissolved, we will rally behind Governor Prof. Kibwana to recapture his gubernatorial seat. United we stand!
