Today at Kapiyo Mixed Secondary School during CBE Youth Curriculum lessons, we were reflecting on Gender roles and how this impact on boys and girls academic performance! I realized that while boys have literally nothing to do at home after school, majority of girls do have many responsibility i.e fetching fire wood, collecting water from the pond, cooking super, washing plates and other siblings and many other duties! Then my interview with the head teacher revealed that girls are doing very poorly compared o boys! Then I could tell why.... cultural gender roles....
