Today for me is one of those few days that people have in their lives when they must choose to admit they have been taught an un-truth and must change a philosophy they held dear for many years. For me, today, it is this: I am going to stop using the word Constitutional so much. Mainly because things like slavery and internment of Japanese-Americans used to be Constitutuonal. Just like the federal income tax and Obamacare are both Constitutional. For the longest time I equated Constitutional with the ideals upon which that same document was founded. Thanks to the crafty maneuvering of an elite few, that document has become a interpreted and twisted to death. Constitutional no longer means what it did 200, 100 or even 50 years ago. Constitutional has been perverted by radical judges and legislators the nation over, to the extant that now it is Constitutional for you to be arrested without a warrant for the sake of national security, or for your government to spy on you to make sure youre being a good little citizen. Now Ive come to understand that Constitutional is something to be debated by lawyers and judges and philosophers and other people who have nothing better to do with their time. Instead, I shall endeavor to find a new term to use...liberty-minded and libertarian arent quite what Im looking for, but are on the right path. Still, today was a hard day. But a necessary one. And one I hope many people choose to make as well.
