Today is ARMED FORCES DAY Show your support of our armed forces today by popping into town where you will be able to try your hand at shooting, discover what it’s like to fly an aeroplane, eat for charity, and sample many other displays and attractions. The army’s Rifles Support Team will supervise a Paint Ball Range marquee at which – for a small charge – members of the public will be able to test their marksmanship skills. Banbury’s Air Training Corps will bring a flight simulator to give visitors an insight into controlling an aircraft, and at the bandstand in High Street, there will be cakes and other merchandise for sale to raise funds for the Help for Heroes charity. Other stalls and displays will be organised by the Royal British Legion, Banbury and District Sea Cadets, Banbury Army Cadets, and the Territorial Army. A military parade will start in Banbury Market Place at 11.30am, It will march up Parsons Street, turn left into Horsefair towards Banbury Cross, turn left into High Street and be dismissed in Broad Street. Armed Forces Day runs from 9am to 3pm.
