Today is International Literacy Day, and the U.S. government is helping teachers in Uganda teach better! Last week, 256 teachers and head teachers completed a three-day leadership training program (181 teachers, including 80 senior women and men teachers; 37 head teachers and 38 deputy head teachers). The participants are part of the 5,000 teachers targeted for training in Leadership through USAID/Ugandas School Health and Reading Program as part of the system strengthening. To this day, I remember teachers who made a difference in my life. Good teachers DO matter. I’m delighted that we can support such a worthwhile effort. Pics to follow.
