Today is International Workers Memorial Day, a time to honour those we have lost to workplace accidents, and to acknowledge everyones right to a safe workplace. Each year around 130,000 Australians suffer serious work-related injuries or illnesses. Tragically, more than 180 people died in Australia last year from a work-related injury. Already this year, 55 people have died at work. Today is the day where all employers, unions and employees should recommit to safe work practices. No one should have to worry about the safety of their loved ones while on the job.
