Today is Michigan’s “Tax Freedom” Day marking the day that we, as a state, have worked long enough to pay off our taxes at the federal, state and local levels. The Tax Foundation recently found that Americans will spend more in taxes in 2014 than they will on food, clothing and housing. Hard working individuals and families up here are being forced to hand over more of their paycheck to support a government whose spending is out of control.
