Today is National Tango Day, in honor of the birthday of Julio De Caro and Carlos Gardel. My contribution is a restoration of the climax of CUESTA ABAJO and it comes with a frustration with a movie industry that uses the world restoration in a way Im beginning to hate. Im really fed up with all the DVD and Blue-Ray releases and some arrogants that may be reading my words that come to announce their new releases for purchase and their are actually films that been hoarded in a vault looking for idiots to pay their lifestyles so they can sell less than a thousand videos, which are going to be eventually pirated and will loose their value. Gardel has been around since 1912 and his movies are ignored on purpose but these people that always keep dismissing requests for quality versions so they can keep selling their usual stuff... but if one of these people needs a new car, they will announce a major discovery... Gardel films are in the public domain, his songs are in the public domain as well... but they keep being ignored, probably so they can keep lying to us. Movies mean a lot to many people and I doubt that there is any dead celebrity in the artistic world as powerful as Gardel, whose recordings, unlike his movies, has been preserved, are constantly reprinted, keeps making profits for (now) Universal and Sony... even though you can find them for free as well. But going back to National Tango Day here the climax of CUESTA ABAJO. This has been posted many times in YouTube in several versions that can be actually reduced to four... all lousy, three of them actually incomplete. What I did here was to use the one with the worst visual quality simply because it is the only one that is complete, but for the soundtrack I combined it with one that had better quality, fixing a few gaps and resynchronize it back into the video. When the movie was about to be released, Gardel made a comercial recording at the RCA Victor studios, although it was originally published by EMI (both companies share 40 of his recordings). However, the version here is the one from the film, which is actually different, even better, than the commercial recording but it has never been issued beyond the film itself. ----------- Hoy es el día nacional del tango en homenaje al nacimiento de Julio De Caro y Carlos Gardel Mi contribución es una restauración del climax de CUESTA ABAJO y viene cargado de frustración hacia una industria cinematográfica que utiliza la palabra restauración de una manera que estoy empezando a despreciar. Estoy realmente podrido de todos las presentaciones en DVD y Blue-Ray y de algunos arrogantes, que quizá estén leyendo mis palabras, y que vienen a anunciar sus nuevos estrenos a la venta y que en realidad son películas que han estado ocultas en alguna bóveda esperando por tarados que les paguen sus estilos de vida para terminar vendiendo apenas mil videos, los cuales van a terminar siendo pirateados y perderán su valor. Desde 1912 es que Gardel ha estado ante el público y sus películas son ignoradas a propósito por estas personas que rechazan pedidos por versiones de calidad con tal de poder seguir vendiendo sus cosas de siempre... pero si uno de estos necesita un coche nuevo, van a anunciar un gran descubrimiento... Las películas de Gardel están en dominio público, sus canciones también... pero siguen siendo ignoradas, probablemente para poder seguir mintiéndonos. El cine significa mucho para mucha gente y dudo que haya una celebridad fallecida en el mundo artístico tan poderosa como Gardel, cuyas grabaciones, a diferencia de sus películas, sí se preservaron, se reimprimen constantemente, continúan dándole ganancias (ahora) a Universal y Sony... incluso también si uno las puede ubicar de manera gratuita. Pero volviendo al día nacional del tango, acá está el climax de CUESTA ABAJO. Esto fue posteado muchas veces en YouTube en varias versiones que, en realidad, son apenas cuatro... todas deplorables y, de hecho, tres de ellas están incompletas. Lo que hice acá fue utilizar la que tenía peor calidad visual simplemente porque es la única que sí está completa, pero para la banda de sonido la combiné con una que tenía mejor calidad, arreglando unos pocos segmentos faltantes y resincronizándola de nuevo al video. Cuando la película estaba a punto de estrenarse, Gardel hizo una grabación comercial en los estudios de RCA Victor, aunque fue originalmente publicada por EMI (ambas compañías comparten 40 de sus grabaciones).
