Today is November 6th!!!!!!!! Holy hell! That means I have been in the hospital in ICU for help me now my brain is not its best but...since I was admitted on 10/18 that is just under a month!!!!! Im gonna hate to see that bill! Many of you know I came in due to an infection in my vp shunt that was placed due to increased csf (cerebral spinal fluid) in my brain. All seemed well for that first month after surgery minus some aches and pains but my vision was slowly coming back and my headaches were much less severe. Since the infection and being admitted here at john muir in walnut creek all the tubing to my shunt that drained the extra fluid to my Belly was taken out and I had an external drain placed to see if it could help the infection, (it didnt) Ive been on so many antibiotics and anti virals and enough pain killers to kill a large horse! Anywho.... This infection will NOT go away!!!!!!! Now I am completely brain hardware free! No drain, no shunts. And my group of infectious disease docs and nuerosurgey docs say that after 2 clear brain cultures, meaning no more infection we can start from the beginning .... And put another shunt in. Sounds like fun huh?!?!?! Im on fentanyl and ketamine as well as Norco and tons of Ativan. I have terrible days and good ones. I am blessed by my nursing staff! They are above and beyond! I have quit smoking!!!!!!!! with very little problem!!!!! Thanks to my mommy, Virginia McPartland, my daddy John Paolazzi, and my brother joe Joe Paolazzi and Wes Wes Whiteley my kids are well cared for!!!!and last but farthest from least, my amazing husband Justin Whiteley I dont know how we make it through all this but we do and were nothing but stronger in the end!!!!!
