Today is World Elephant Day! -- Elephants are being threatened more and more due to the high demand for ivory. Not only are they being killed for their ivory (their body parts), but their habitat is being destroyed. According to the IUCN (iucnredlist.org/details/12392/0) elephants are listed as vulnerable. How you can help elephants: • Support organisations that are working to protect the wild elephants natural habitat, building sanctuaries for elephants and those that are working to stop illegal poaching and trade of elephant ivory. • Do not support organisations that abuse elephants and other animals for profit or entertainment. • Do not buy ivory products. • Do your part to protect elephant habitat by not buying pal-oil products or coffee that is not fair-trade or shade-grown. These products plantations are built in areas that were once elephant habitat.
