Today is World Rabies Day. The world unites in the fight against rabies, a terrible disease that kills more than 60,000 people every year. Even though Singapore has been free from rabies since 1953, we cannot take this for granted. AVA imposes strict import requirements and border control to keep ourselves free of the disease. Smuggling and illegal animal imports jeopardise public and animal health and such activities cannot be condoned. We would like to share a video on rabies to tell you more about this horrible disease and what you should know if you’re travelling to a rabies infected country. Thankfully as Singapore is rabies free, the regular vaccination of animals and humans is not practised. #TogetherAgainstRabies For more information and resources on rabies, please refer to the Global Alliance for Rabies Control website at: rabiesalliance.org/
