Today is a big day in Louisiana tradition. It is the start of Carnival season, which means one Nicholls alum is in the midst of a VERY busy time as he sets his sights on finishing the props for the biggest party in the nation: MARDI GRAS. Mark Olivier, Nicholls art alum, manages the prop shop at Blaine Kern Studios in New Orleans. Not only does he manage the shop and help build props, but he makes certain those decorations donning the floats make it to their final destination along the parade route. “You definitely have to have an imagination to do what we do.”- Olivier Imagination, and lots and lots of coffee.
