Today is a big day in Miami! The Miami Foundation is encouraging people to donate to local charities. It really something amazing to see--since midnight, the effort has raised more than $2.5 million for hundreds of local nonprofits. (The foundation is matching a percentage of the funds.) Veterans Ocean Adventures, Inc, the group I volunteer with, is taking part in the fundraising drive. VOA does very important work--helping veterans overcome depression and isolation, PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury and other wounds. But its resources this year have been far outstripped by demand. This is Steven Carradero. You might remember me posting in September, after he died suddenly. Steve was a vet (of multiple Iraq deployments), a survivor of an IED explosion, a fantastic dive buddy, a father, a husband and a hilarious and caring friend to many. I donated to VOA in his honor today. Will you please, too? And will you please share this with your friends. Even a $$25 donation helps. Think of it as a week of lattes.
