Today is a special day, Ganesh Chaturthi. This is a religious observance in our home and many others in the world. It is an occasion where families come together to celebrate the good, seek blessings for all that life may bring and to seek comfort in knowing that spiritual help comes to those who ask. When I was young(er) my parents celebrated with grand pomp, with lots of food, large prayer sessions, music and more. This is one of the most important observances in our home, alongside Diwali, Dasserah and Gudi Padwa. My parents now do a toned down version of these festivities, but the tradition continues... and this day truly makes me home-sick. Religion aside, it is rooted in the philosophy that there may be powers greater than us that guide and direct our actions and deeds, and in order to hold eager anticipation for the future, we must be congnizent of our actions in the present. For those who observe, wishing you the choicest of blessing this Ganesh Chaturthi. For those of you who dont, find a friend who does, and eat some home-made Modak!! Here is a video of one of the large public celebrations in a popular community of Bombay from a few years ago .. Hope you have a blessed day. youtu.be/ocCGFTWbweI
