Today is a special day at Lighthouse Baptist Church; Today we - TopicsExpress

Today is a special day at Lighthouse Baptist Church; Today we celebrate (although in a small way) the uniqueness of our church body and the heart that has created it. Not the heart of the Pastor, nor the heart of the congregation, but the heart of our Savior. Today is what we call Pink hair Sunday. Now I can smell the judgement coming from my more formal, and perhaps more proper friends. We do two things on this day, our women folk started a tradition where on or around my birthday they wear pink wigs, or dye their hair pink. This has come to represent the fact that you can come to our church, and to Christ as you are. Right now, no prerequists, no first thing you must do type commands, just come on and get you sum Jesus acceptance. (Because Jesus cleans His fish after he catches them) The second thing we do is today everyone attending LBC will be given a cold coke. At around 5 minutes after 11 we will all with one accord open our drinks. This is not only in memory of our great friend Andy Minto, but it serves the same purpose as the pink wigs. At Christmas time last year we lost Andy, he died in his sleep, and woke up in the presence of Christ. His struggle with this life was over and he was ushered into Heaven. It represents the fact that this church is not just a rest home for saints, but a Hospital for sinners. No matter what your past is, no matter how much you think you failed, Jesus said that the person who comes to Him will he in no way cast out. Lighthouse Baptist Church has become, is right now, and always will be, the perfect place for imperfect people. I should of course add one point to this post. I have been criticized by some very pious (although well meaning) christians in our community. They want to tell me , and others, that we dont believe in holiness, and that we dont encourage repentance. Understand this, you may come as you are, the way you are, unconditionally, but be prepared. You may come as you are, warts, mistakes, burdens and all your messy life. However, Christ will challenge you to change, He will not leave you broken and shattered, and in time you will feel convicted, you will feel yourself compelled to change.
