Today is the day I celebrate the life & home going of Darryl John Broussard, my father. I wasnt raised by him, but when we did have the opportunity to know each other in my teens, we both delighted in doing so. We worked diligently at building & maintaining a meaningful, lasting bond. What amazed me most was how alike we were. He loved sweets, I love sweets, he loved to talk, I love to talk, he loved to think, I love to think, he loved to reason, I love to reason, he loved movies, I love movies, he loved music, I love music, I love people, I love people, he was giving, I am giving, he walked a certain way, I walk the same way, he loved knowing stuff, I love knowing stuff, he loved to eat, I love to eat, he hurt when others hurt, I hurt when others hurt, he wanted to solve every problem, I want to solve every problem. But the thing I love most about my dad was how he loved to listen to me pray and watch me worship. He would say, Baby, pray Vicky, you pray so good! Ill never forget a particular worship service we shared in Houston. There was a time I was angry with the Lord and I wasnt serving Him like I used to, my dad would try to push me back, but I wasnt ready. His home-going, 5years ago, is what drew me back to my Heavenly Father. I hate it took that because my dad didnt get to hear me pray with his earthly ears again. But, he hears me now! Thank you Mom for choosing such an amazing man, one who, despite his own faults, knew to point his child back to the very source of love, my Creator. I am so thankful for the lineage I inherited here and am eternally grateful for my heavenly heritage in my Lord and Savior, Jesus! Happy Home-Going Dad ... I love and miss you! I await our reunion.
