Today is the last day of breast cancer awareness month. I used to - TopicsExpress

Today is the last day of breast cancer awareness month. I used to question the sincerity & efficacy of the pink this and pink that, especially trash cans. No longer. It doesnt matter the motive of companies because the campaign is effective. Every person alive will at some point be personally impacted by cancer. One out of every eight American women will get invasive breast cancer. That is a terrifying statistic. It could be your neighbor, your mom, your daughter,,,or you. I used to see the pink ribbon as giving too much power to cancer. How wrong I was! No, the pink ribbon is a nudge to females to check their breasts; it is a nagging reminder of postponed mammograms; it is a warning to everyone to cherish their loved ones; it is a commitment to better health and awareness; it is a celebration of progress in the treatments; it is a challenge to defeat breast cancer; and for my pink ribbon sisters and me, it is our warrior cry of survival, battle scars and all!
