Today is yes, that day, the D-day, or Diversary as the Diabetic community calls it. 4 years ago we had what seemed like a normal little 18 month old son who the previous night had peed his bed twice, waking up asking for water...4 years of 3 am wake-ups, every 3 month endocrinology appointments, and yes, many thousands of shots, pump changes, and sensor changes. We have grown so much as a family because of this horrible disease, laughed, cried and now I must say, he does not know a difference or remember a time that he could eat whatever he wants without asking. We are changed, but happy he made it through the diagnosis, and we are hanging on for a cure. There are a lot of younger kids being diagnosed now. A group that I joined 3 years ago called diapers and diabetes had 100 followers, now they are into the 1000s. The lead singer for Korn now has a boy with Type 1, as does Usher. I know I am not alone in my fight, and with you all along with the support you give us, we are never alone. So thank you very, very much for all the hugs, late night listening to my rants, and dealing with a very sleepy mama...
