Today marks another milestone anniversary of gaining my life back. It was in 2006 the bike crash that ended life as I knew it. Not only had I lost a leg the year following that crash I lost my career, marriage, business, house and all the toys. Not only was I physically destroyed but also financially and spiritually as well. The emptiness so overwhelming I contemplated the use of a 357 often daily. It was an Army veteran that my brother Fatdaddyz Tats, introduced me to that came into his shop many times speaking kindly, smiling and inviting this broken woman to go somewhere or do something. He never gave up and shortly before that day in December of 2007 he convinced me to come with him. Not sure why this angry woman, pissed off at the world agreed but I did. That day in December of 2007, a dinner serving homeless veterans where I started to live again. I listened and learned how much had been sacrificed securing my freedoms and liberties. The different men spoke of their service. Some lost friends, brothers, some lost limbs and a few lost their minds. These broken men embraced this shattered woman, thanking me for serving them. I was humbled. It was then I realized my loss was from doing what I love and I was able to ride my Harley, smoke cigars, do what I want to do, speak my mind and wear what I want because of this countries veterans! So the past 7 years, every year, I have gone out to serve at this veterans homeless shelter with a crew of bikers. Funny how a crew of rough neck looking bikers change how I was able to view myself and those around me. Each and every time I am humbled and grateful giving back to those who gave me not only my freedoms, liberties but also gave me back my life. Much love and respect to every Veteran both past and present and yes this is why this woman, whom has never served in our military, has such a fierce love and respect for Veterans. They didnt have to do what they do but they did it anyway and that is why I love giving back to my countries veterans!
