Today marks my 10 year anniversary with the School District of Philadelphia, 10 years service to the Head Start Program. So very much has changed through the years. Ive given birth to two amazingly complex little people. Ive seen several superintendents come and go. Ive been through 3 schools, 5 principals, 6 assistant teachers, 4 education coordinators. I have served hundreds of children and their families, and Ive developed lifelong friendships. And now, it is with both sadness and nervous excitement that I announce my upcoming departure from Philadelphia schools. I have accepted a position with Booz Allen Hamilton as an Early Childhood Program Specialist, supporting numerous Head Start programs across the mid-Atlantic region. I will have the opportunity to serve as a role model and mentor, using my experiences and knowledge to affect high quality early childhood education. It was a difficult choice to leave the classroom, but I look forward to the awesome challenge that lies ahead. Most of all, I will miss the giant smiles and the warm hugs that greet me each and every morning. And summer break...I will miss those lazy summers! I am truly blessed to have been given these 10 years in the Philadelphia School District. I will leave a big piece of my heart in that classroom!
