Today marks the 40th day of muharram. The event marks the anniversary of the Battle of Karbala when Imam Hussain ibn Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, was killed by the forces of the second Umayyad caliph Yazid at Karbala. Family members, accompanying Hussein ibn Ali, were killed or subjected to humiliation. Not many people knew of Hussein,, but one thing for certain is, he was an inspiration to all of humanity whether you being a Jew, christian, Buddhist, sunni, shia, atheist, etc. One of my favourite quotes from Imam Hussain, It is better to die on your feet, than to live on your knees. #LabaykaYaHussain
