Today marks the 45th anniversary of the Melbourne-Evans collision, a moment in our history not many people know about. The U.S.S. Frank E. Evans and an Australian aircraft carrier were sailing together on the South China Sea when the ships miscommunicated and collided, sending 74 men aboard the Evans to their deaths. One local survivor has made it his lifes work to get the names of the Lost 74 inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. He and his family have made some amazing connections along the way, including just last week at the Memorial Day Parade. Annie Chang WSBT shares their special story, coming up at 6:34 a.m.
