Today marks the 69th anniversary of Japans surrender to China. This is the first time September 3rd has been officially marked as Victory Day. In marking the event, top Chinese leaders including Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang attended a ceremony in Beijing. The Japanese military formally signed its surrender on September 2, 1945, marking the end of the World War II. Its ground troops surrendered to the Chinese government the following day.
