Today marks the 9th year that my sweet mother entered Heavens - TopicsExpress

Today marks the 9th year that my sweet mother entered Heavens gates to rejoice for an eternity! it is hard to believe it has actually been that long. I called her practically every day and I miss her voice and her always encouraging words! I think she was my #1 fan and my best friend as well as my mother! As Christians, we are comforted in times of sadness and grief by the full knowledge that we and our loved ones are eternally with us as we recall their words and deeds and the great experiences of their lives. Our greatest joy comes when we remember that because Christ lives, they live and that is a comforting thought! Life, like a flower, is fragile and short. At the same time it is a thing of beauty, grace and dignity. My mother showed all of those to the world. We should enjoy its beauty while it lasts. We spread its joy around for the few fleeting moments that we grace this earth, expecting, any second, to be plucked and trimmed, to form a divine bouquet in the heavens. Have you ever felt empty? The feeling of emptiness usually comes after you experience such a great loss. I felt that way when I lost but Heaven gained my mother! When we feel empty, it is as if everything we have has suddenly disappeared. We feel empty when we reach for that which has always been there and it is no longer there. Nothing can create the feeling of emptiness and spiritual poverty like the death of a loved one. Were at a complete loss when that happens. We dont know what to do. We become weary and our souls wander. Even when we feel empty, we are never really without the benefit of Gods mercy and love. Many today are able to enjoy a better life because someone emptied themselves to show them the road. It may have been your father, who worked quietly to provide a home, education and an opportunity for his children. Perhaps it was a mother, who gave of herself until there was nothing else to give. There are millions of people who can testify of how they found a better life because someone gave them the best they had, even to the point that they strained their health and loss their strength to accomplish it. They gave the richness of their lives in making it possible for others to find the way. When death comes what do we have left? Non-believer see only empty sacks! However, believers know they have much more. Survivors have the benefit of being the recipients of a lifetime of love and devotion. Even though the sadness of the time makes it dark, survivors look at the golden trail and find a reason to praise God. As Christians, we praise God for the rich experiences that he allows us to share with a loved one such as godly parents. When this life ends then we can thank him for the benefit of the golden trail home that our loved ones have paved! I miss you Millie Hayes and thank you for paving the way for me and many, many others while you were here on earth!
