Today, on September 2nd , 1982 the Uganda People’s Congress government forced more than 80,000 people of Rwandan descent, including many with Ugandan citizenship, to vacate the country, especially those in southwestern Uganda without their property. They were denied entry into Rwanda and forced to live in refugee camps on the Ugandan side of the border. The President at the time is quoted to have said that Rwanda was like a glass full of water, which had no room for more water.
