Today starts a new year for Kidz Kare at Home. Yesterday was supposed to be the day we closed. As some of you may know, we had a very difficult year financially due to the changes in healthcare laws and the ways that insurance companies, particularly Anthem, reimbursed for them. They literally could not accept claims properly and no matter how many meetings we had could they realize it was their error. We were continuing to provide care while not getting paid in hopes that it would improve. It was a huge struggle and we had to lay off staff to survive, this was the most devastating task Ive ever done as an owner. It broke my heart to lose such good employees. I also was blessed to have some amazing people to hang in there and fight with me to hang on to the hope that we could survive. I am especially grateful to Kim, the superstar nurse, Kirsten, Kerstin and Jenn for working their fannies off and putting up with my demands to keep pushing. We were down to our last dollar, I had no other well to tap and had to tell the team we would be closing on October 31st. We never stopped trying and I think we continued to give amazing care. In one final threat of despair, we broke through with Anthem and can say we now have a solid revenue stream again. Throughout this year, I met with other agencies to sell our company but could not bring my heart to do this and with each company I met I was inspired to do more with Kidz Kare. And I am pleased to report we have a New plan for 2015 that will amaze you and Richmond. So please keep the faith in us and we grow and provide care. I am most especially thankful to God for answered prayers and the journey of this year in faith. I am so thankful to the pediatricians and the families that trust us with caring for your precious child. Angie
