Today, the New Hampshire legislature was able to reach an agreement on the budget. This bipartisan budget will encourage innovation and help create jobs by restoring investments in critical priorities like higher education, mental health, economic development, public safety and much more. And while it took compromise and hard work, the balanced budget agreement addresses the concerns I have heard from so many of you. This includes a path forward for considering Medicaid expansion in time to accept $2.5 billion in critical federal funds that will help strengthen our economy and improve the health and financial well-being for thousands of hard-working Granite Staters. Thank you to the hundreds and hundreds of you who used your voice to insist that the legislature produce a bipartisan and fiscally responsible balanced budget. I’m so grateful that I can count on you to stand with me. Together we will be able to keep New Hampshire moving forward. I’m proud that members of both the House and Senate were able to work together and to compromise on the difficult choices facing this state. I hope you’ll join me in saying thank you to budget negotiators for their hard work and in encouraging the full House and Senate to approve this bipartisan balanced budget.
