Today, the SDJW Big Band had the most difficult and demanding - TopicsExpress

Today, the SDJW Big Band had the most difficult and demanding reading session of the last two years. We read seven of the Kenton West Side Story charts and the Kenton Christmas Album charts. We had five trumpets, six horns, four trombones, six woodwinds, piano, two bass players, drums and synthesizer. I want to thank and commend the fine players on their enthusiasm and musicianship while reading these charts. It was two hours of challenge after musical challenge. Our band today was: Don Kubec, Jonathan Dickson, Nick Gomez, Adriana McGraw, Richard Walker, and John Reilly on woodwinds. Bruce A. Martineau, Geoff Winstead, Angelo Petruolo, Mark Tschinkel and Kristina Louie played trumpet. The horn section was Lisa Cherry, Kelly Ireland Leyva. Tim Magnuson, Christian Creager, Bryon Wirth and Greg Stout. The trombone section was covered by Jim Mettler, Gary Haendiges, William J Brinegar, and Daniel Garcia. Amy Rowe played piano, Sean Barrett and Mandy Adams played bass, Johnny Vatos was on the drums and I covered the auxiliary percussion parts on synthesizer. I really enjoy working with this fine group of professionals and always look forward to the third Sunday of each month. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
