Today the Union Mills Homestead Foundation, Inc. celebrated its 50th Anniversary! The Foundation was founded in 1964 by the Klein brothers, Shriver descendants who inherited the property in 1957. The brothers operated the property as a private museum for several years, but the preservation needs far exceeded what they could do without establishing a non-profit corporation. The Foundation now operates Union Mills in collaboration with the Carroll County Government, which owns the property.
