Today the local library had a Pallet Throwdown project contest. The idea was to make something out of pallets or pallet wood. Other contestants made book shelves, garden shelves, lamps, a lemonade stand, etc, ya know stuff like that. Stuff that was practical & decorative. I choose to do something COOL! People may or may not like Star Wars but most people LOVE R2-D2! So 3 months ago I started to slowly assemble him. I got lucky with a few of his dimensions (body & legs) but a cardboard dome was used, at first, to see if a wooden dome/head was possible. Success! Everything you see is made from pallet wood, glued and screwed! Does he roll? Yes. Does his head move? Yes. Does he talk? With a Bluetooth speaker, yes. Yes, even YOU can build a R2 unit! I just wanted to share all this hard work with fellow Star Wars fans.
