Today the planet lost a good man. My nephew Michael Allan Terry. Although I had not seen him in the last few years, I have good memories of us growing up in southern California. He had a very funny sense of humor. An unmistakable laugh. That is the way I choose to remember him. I cannot imagine a more grievous heartache than that of a parent that looses a child. No matter what the age. I am sure that if one was to use a creative mind one could find a circumstance to rival it, but nature dictates that the child should out live the parent. This allows for the child to learn from both life and death and it affords the parent one last opportunity to teach the child about the cycle of life. In a perfect world that cycle is not broken. No Mother or Father should have to bury their child. Ever! However, life is not always fair and storybook like. Sometimes chaotic occurrences happen. Sometimes horrible circumstances arise. It is in these times of heartache and strife that people often turn to their faith. When life spins out of our control and we simply cannot cope it is our faith that pulls us through. Faith somehow gives us solace. Faith gives us something to hold onto, when we feel all is lost and hopeless. I am a man of little faith, but I have seen faith affirm in others. Faith strengthen and guide. If I wished a gift to anyone it would be the gift of faith. Having lost mine, in man and God, I know just how valuable it is. To my family and friends I wish you faith. May it strengthen you in the days and weeks and years to come. Perhaps, someday I shall have mine restored. Someday. Rest now Mike, we will remember you always. Love, Uncle Bill.
