Today was a great day! The rare, beautifully preserved statue of Marsyas we found w/ our students at the Villa delle Vignacce dig in 2009 has become a permanently displayed artifact in the Capitoline Museums. Please have a look! As of Feb 2 it will be permanently housed in the Musei Capitolini annex: Montemartini, one of my favorite museums in Rome. museicapitolini.org/mostre_ed_eventi/mostre/marsia_la_superbia_punita (Here I am with the Superintendent of Rome/ director of Musei Capitolini). With this now statue published (without our participation, unfortunately!) weve got the green light to publish the dig finds. The dig publication will give real value to the statue- so itll be an exciting 2015 for us.
