Today was a really big day! Parker finally got to have a swallow - TopicsExpress

Today was a really big day! Parker finally got to have a swallow study done and did brilliantly well! It was really hard to NOT feed him anything during the day so he would be hungry enough to drink formula with barium in it! He was a total champ! As for starting solids, although he is actually 6 months old (the age where solids can safely be introduced), his adjusted age is only 4.5 months...so we wait a little longer. From here, we will discuss changing over to an NG tube. We get to start actual feedings orally, for as much as he will take. The remainder will be fed through the tube. As the amount he can take orally increases, the amount through the tube will decrease. Parker now only needs to wear the heart and apnea monitor over night and while being transported. He is growing and doing so well. I know that can change in a heartbeat, literally...so we cherish and celebrate everything! Yay Parker!
