Today was a special day. My husband turned 70. (yes, he is older than me!) this is significant because at age 51, he had a massive heart attack. , (married a younger woman? đI digress) the other reason is election day. I have a copy of a letter written by my great grandfather William Columbus Burnette in the Civil War. He and his siblings and my dad and siblings fought in wars to give me the privilege, opportunity and OBLIGATION to vote my conviction... And the year dad died, December 2012, was the first time he did not vote in the November elections because of ill health. Shame, shame on anyone who does not vote. I believe that children echo their parents and those who demonstrate civic duty will raise up children who recognize the value of voting. My wise saying for today. Oh, and by the way, I respect those who vote opposite of what I vote more highly than those who agree with my political views but choose not to vote at all.
