Today was a trying day. Ive been super sick all week but I had to get up at 4:30 am to drag myself to clinical. Spilled coffee all over my white uniform top on my way in. Worked with someone who thanked me repeatedly for just listening to them and confided in me. But I left feeling so hopeless and guilty that I couldnt fix things. Stopped at the store on the way home only to be approached by a man who saw me in my school uniform and felt compelled to tell me that he was told 40 years ago in nursing school that above all else he was he patients advocate, and that I should remember that. Which both amplified my guilt & inspired me. I cant wait to be a nurse, but as a beginner its hard to find a good medium between overly emotional and caring. But... I cant wait to go back.
