Today was great. I got to do 3 normal deliveries, episiotomy, putting in catheter, tried to remove Macdonald stitch, and even assist on c-sec! :D Alhamdulillah priceless experiences. Even more interesting, I was told by Sister Sharold that in Kenya, the names given to the babies are very specific according to the time they were born. Akinyi (f), Okinyi (m) – morning. Adhiambo (f), Odhiambo (m) – evening. Atieno (f), Otieno (m) – night. The first baby was tough. The “channel” for the baby to come out was rather small so I had to perform episiotomy. Of course my hands were shaking as it was my first time did such procedure. After done cutting, I was so clumsy and like, Ok what should I do now, what should I do nowwww’ with a poker expression shown so clearly on my face. I didn’t even know why I was so nervous that time that I got Sister Sharom laughing at me, saying that I’m a funny person. Hehhh.😅 “Now, support the perineum and do your routine as usual.” Fuhhhh. A 4.5 baby girl was born. She was beautiful, indeed. Alhamdulillah. After everything done, I paid a visit to the baby girl earlier and something weird was detected. Didn’t want to waste much time, I went to see a senior doctor and did what a doctor should do. “Dr Jefry, I think this baby has flaring and chest indrawing.” “Right, you are right! We have to give her oxygen.” Aaaaahhhh now we are done! “You did a very good job today. Congratulations Dr Nur.” Said Dr Jefry while smiling. Life is full of good memories and precious experiences. And today, was definitely one of the good ones. 😊
