Today was one of those days that showed me why the fire service is so great! Today started as just another day... station duties, equipment checks, make some coffee, and enjoy a card game with the usual 5-6 people. Then the tones dropped. House Fire. The ones that were here ran out to the gear racks, put their gear on, and loaded up in the rigs. One volunteer pulls into the parking lot. Here comes another one...and another one! Oh look! Here comes yet another volly! After some time passed, our crew arrived back home safely. Everyone washes up and most stayed to order lunch. When lunch was delivered there was about 8-10 people. We all sat around the tables eating while talking and laughing about current events. Within a half hour later, we had approx. 15 people in our station. I cant even begin to tell you how great that felt! All different age groups...from our senior members to junior members, to those who remember the days of walking to school in the snow with no shoes on, uphill, both ways.... Everyone just sitting around and talking and reminiscing. Even a few helped with the extra duties that was given to the staff! Its called team work. Something that I am proud to say was shown here today! We have a great group of people who walk through these doors and down our hallway every day.... wouldnt it be great to be a part of these great people?
