Today was rather interesting to say the least. Its Mum and Dads - TopicsExpress

Today was rather interesting to say the least. Its Mum and Dads 55th wedding anniversary, sadly Mum is spending it without Dad. 4 months ago yesterday he passed away. I get out of bed from nightshift at 1:30 in the arvo and zip out and pick Mum up. A pleasant surprise, Aunty Marg Hurst is with Mum. Off the 3 of us go to the Cemetery to visit Dad and Uncle Brian Hurst. I take my shovel down, not to dig Dad up, but to level his plot out. I felt the need to do it. We get there, gate is open, so I drive in so my elderly passengers dont have to walk far. Its quiet, damn quiet, the Caprice V8 rumbles away approaching Dads resting place. Its pretty loud now that the exhaust has been done. We wander down, pay our respects reminisce and I get to work while Mum pops some flowers down. Its 3PM and I have to get going to meet the kids after school. Back to the car we go, I reverse back, turn around and........ WTF?? the big gates are padlocked shut?!..... Oh dear, now what, we are locked in the Korumburra Cemetery?! Nice one Ian Hurst you always were a practical joker! On the phone I go, no answer to any of the numbers of the Trust...... I phone home, no answer..... Now what?! A quick inspection of the wrought Iron gates.... need a shifter, dive in the boot..... YES, a shifter is there. Unbolt the left gate, yep... BLOODY heavy! Drag the 2 gates to the side..... We are FREE! What a story to tell my Grandkids one day.... Ill laugh forever on this one..... For the record, it was more difficult bolting the bloody gate back up.... poor old Mum couldnt hold the gate up, thankfully an able bodied visitor was handy at the time or we might still be there. All fixed and home, ready to run off to Night shift. So.... How was your day??... LOL
