Today was the commencement of our first stride towards the hiking venture to Skagway, Alaska, making our way to the ascent at Chilkoot Pass and beyond to the gateway of the Canadian Yukon. I crossed the Mackinac Bridge that divides Lake Huron from Lake Superior and met up with Bud (leader of the pack) at his home located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Got treated with some first class hospitality; dinner, excursion tour of the local region and its rich history and topped it off at the Street Car Station to crown the evening with local ice cream. We depart to North Dakota tomorrow, then Montana the following day and across the Canadian Rockies that will channel us beyond to the Alaskan Highway in Southeast Alaska...
