Today was the day I officially made my announcement at work. I was asked to wait until we had a head meeting today. I was told I had the Superintendents Blessings to be officially hired the same Day my friend John passed away on January 9th. I was able to tell John, John, I got the job! He smiled and whispered, David, you deserve it. It made me happy I could share my life changing news the same time life would take yet another turn. This is my good bye note to such an incredible and dedicated staff at the Oregon School District where I have been District Maintenance Technician for Six schools, a community pool about 400 staff and 3600 students for nearly 17 years. Truly a remarkable experience with a fantastic and dynamic group of people. My hands were trembling by the time I finished. Very big life change, but leaving behind some of the greatest people I could ever have in my life is probably the most difficult. I am a lucky one that can say, I really love my job and the people I have done my work for. I have been truly humbled and Honored to serve. Good Morning, It is bittersweet, with much thought and deep reflection of a Career I have enjoyed immensely here at OSD, that January 30th 2015 will be my last day of employment here after nearly 17 years. I have accepted a position with the Marshall School District as their new Facilities Services Coordinator. It will be an incredibly challenging and exciting opportunity to apply my knowledge and skill set with a smaller District which is a work in progress. It is a district which I believe I can make a positive impact as well as be a conduit for change. It is my hope that my work ethic, honesty and integrity will have had a positive impact on those around me. Those are values I hold near and dear to my heart and also a way of carrying on the values, vision and incredible legacy of my Grandfather Coyt Farwell and my Father Allen Farwell. So this too I want to pass on. To always do what is right. I want to follow up with gratitude. I am incredibly grateful for such a wonderful opportunity I was given to flourish as a professional as well as in spirit. The opportunity to be representative of such a great school District is one I never took for granted and did my best... to always be my best. To wear the Badge that bears the emblem OSD is one of great pride. It represents a family working together in all aspects for the greater good of our most precious asset... our children. It has been a Great Honor to work with Andy Weiland, Craig Loram and now Lanny Gleason and so many others on ideas, visions and concepts. It is a persons greatest sense of well being and accomplishment seeing these ideas go from conception to implementation. For myself that was powerful .....and of validation of ones self worth. It has been a great life experience and one in which I will carry with me to my end days. The friends and acquaintances I have made here are top notch. I cant say enough for all our teachers and staff as they carry the torch forward. Each and everyone of you have been incredible. It is my hope, I have served you well and treated you with the respect and personal communication you deserve. Again, thank you for this incredible journey and being a part of it all. May life be good to you. If you would like to contact me in the future, I am on Facebook as well as have an E:mail me @ Riverman_101@yahoo Take care! :-) David A. Farwell
