Today was the sentence hearing for the woman who hit Trents dad on his motorcycle. I will be honest and say that I went into it thinking that this woman was going to sit there with her nose up in the air to show us that she was not to blame or didnt care. Instead, I saw a broken woman who has been, and will continue to be dealing with pain like none of us can relate to. Yes, we have lost a loved one, but to be responsible for the loss of someones life.... I cannot even imagine what she lives with. Today, I saw the other side to this tragedy. We used to feel anger and, to be honest, hatred towards her. Today, I felt nothing but compassion and empathy for her. Today was a great day for Trent. He finally got to get things off of his chest that he has not told anyone but me and I think he finally has some closure. I am amazed by the beautiful grace of God that was present in the courtroom today. Forgiveness is amazing. I hope and pray that the woman can find comfort and peace just like we are continuing to find for our family. I feel like I have been rambling and still havent said what Im trying to say.... but, it was truly an experience to see the other side of this tragic situation.
