Today we celebrate 48 years of history and amazing autos with all of you! Beginning in 1963 as a hobby of Donald S. Gilmore when his wife Genevieve presented him with a 1920 Pierce Arrow for his birthday, the idea of a car collection was originally meant to be enjoyed by the family and friends of the Gilmores. But, Mrs. Gilmore suggested that it be offered as a spectacle for all to enjoy and on July 31, 1966 the Gilmore Car Museum opened for public viewing for the first time. At that time, the campus included 16 structures housing vintage and classic cars, antique carriages, buses and steam engines. Together, there were approximately 76 vehicles on display. Today, the Gilmore Car Museum has grown into one of the top car museums and continues to be the fastest growing car museum in the nation, displaying over 350 vehicles in more than two dozen buildings, galleries, and vintage dealerships. What has been your favorite memory of the Gilmore Car Museum over the past 48 years?
