Today we completed a mapped pre-run of Cleghorn Trail. There were 4 Jeeps and 1 Raptor on the run (Ivan had to leave early and did not finish the entire run). Justin came out in his stock 2 door JK, Steve in his built TJ, Rusty & Lisa in their Call of Duty JK, Ivan in his raptor (that thinks its a Jeep), and me in Sidious. Hit the trail at about 10:45. Everyone took turns on Edison hill, taking different lines. As we moved on, we came to the places where the trail split between the easy main trail, and the moderate to difficult bypasses. Some of the bypasses were hill climbs with a little articulation. Others had rocks and full articulation. Everyone was able to make their own decision on taking a challenging portion of the trail. After a short break at poser rock, we started heading down towards Silverwood Lake. Hit a couple of other difficult sections. While riding the ridge, we came to the end of an optional trail and had to back track. On the backtrack, we took the first split we came to and ended up on a very difficult section. The section (located at 34.300048° -117.343769° on Google earth) had large rocks with big drops needing full articulation and then some to get down. Going down this section in Sidious, I was on 2 wheels several times, as the back end was coming up. It was decided that it was not safe for the stock Jeeps to complete. The other three Jeeps had to back up on the trail. After meeting up on the main trail, we continued to the end of the trail at Hwy 138 across from Silverwood Lake. From the pre-run and previous runs I completed on Cleghorn, it is safe to say there is something for everyone on this trail. The main trail is easy, and can be run for large sections in 2wd. The options start moderate and get more difficult the further up the trail you go. As everyone in the group tried some of the options, I think everyone had their Jeep on 3 wheels or less at least once. Everyone had a great time, and no Jeeps were injured during the filming of this episode. We are in the planning stage of a full SDJC event for Cleghorn. Stay tuned for our next scheduled event. Q.
