Today we find ourselves in safety outside of the combat zone which is Afghanistan and in the process of coming home. Nine months ago and following and over a 150 separate travel movements (convoy, helo, fixed wing) numerous attacks, and that daily prayer as we pressed on, Father, into your hands I commit my spirit, is now today a thing of my once constant past. Nine months ago, I truly wasnt sure that I would ever see home again. I guess in that environment none of us are. And now with just a few days to go, like thousands of your other country men and women who have been stationed in that war zone constantly aware that on any given day their lives may be required of them, it is odd to realize that on some emotional level, there is this sense of surprise that the time is completed and I am coming home. ... And the blood will dry underneath my nails and the wind will rise up to fill my sails Still far away from where I belong But its always darkest before the dawn so you can doubt and you can hate but I know, no matter what it takes Im coming home Im coming home tell the world Im coming home let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday I know my kingdom awaits and theyve forgiven my mistakes Im coming home Im coming home tell the world Im coming . Hmmm...this may be a song reflecting this present time....but we all know on some level...here...on this planet it is not true....still what wonder to think there will come a time when we will truly go home to that real Kingdom...and grace and forgiveness will be real, because the One who died for me, did so to make it real. So, if you are one struggling with this idea of forgiveness or fresh starts, or Gods love for you, forget all the mockers, all those that seem to think they are in the know, and trust in the heart of the He who who trusted in all redemption praying, Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.
