Today we have posted in our Notes (https://facebook/vicdogrescue?sk=notes_drafts#!/notes/victorian-dog-rescue/what-we-need-victorian-election-2014/10152813605806069) our position paper on what is needed in animal welfare. We doubt we will get it from either party, but we can hope. Also there is a letter we have addressed to you, and a sample letter you can send to the relevant politicians. Their names and addresses are also supplied. Last election you helped us to get a Section 84Y that allowed us at last to rescue young puppies and kittens, the old and the sick, those not ready to be vetworked. You helped us get community fostercare networks recognized under the Domestic Animals Act. It was a start, but it is far from enough. Please read our paper, letter and then send your letter or telephone to your local politician as well as to the Premier and relevant Minister and their opposition counterpart. By not speaking, we risk those in power thinking that no one cares. Show that enough of us do. Please. Let the politicians know that our own cats and dogs, and their siblings suffering in puppy farms or in pounds, do matter. Visualise your own pet in that situation and then speak up. Let your friends know what is happening also. They depend on us.
