Today we mark a 58th anniversary of the struggle of women - TopicsExpress

Today we mark a 58th anniversary of the struggle of women emancipation & triple oppression faced by women across the board. 58 years ago our South African women from all walks of life, irrespective of racial line they resorted to take their frustration to Pretorias Union Building demanding an end pass laws & calling an end to a woman kitchen approach. This event marked a turning point to the character of the struggle for freedom & oppression against women particularly black women. Women demands grew strong & were inevitable by the oppressive Gov. What lesson can the women of today draw from the 20 000 women of 1956.. Even today women are still faced with vast challenges in our society, they are faced with ill-treatment, Rape, poverty & they continue to be victims of the legacy of the apartheid. The women of today ought to have a vivid voice which their struggles can be won through such a voice & SA have created an enabling environment for just society for both men & women, but the struggle of women empowerment shouldnt be fought by women only. In this month men of SA should raise up against violation of womans rights & should protect women at all levels of the society. Lastly were should lead their struggle & not just enjoy benefits because they are women, they must be women of substance. We long the women of SA a successful womens month & we anticipate that this must will grant ample time to reflect the miles they have travelled since 1956. Wathinta abafazi, wathinta imbokodo uzofa...... Forward with the struggle of imbokodo
