Today we met with Kadens oncologist, Dr. Cash. He gave us news, but not the news we were hoping to hear. Kadens margins test were NOT negative meaning he still has cancer cells present where the tumor was removed. Eric and I knew this could be a possibility as the only way to eliminate the cells would have been to remove his arm. This cancer is re-occurring and likes to come back in the same spot it originated or the lungs. We will have another MRI in 3 months (February) to watch for any new growth of a new tumor. This type of cancer is not very responsive to chemo so radiation is our only option.The human body can only have so much radiation in a life time, so because of Kadens age...Dr. Cash wants to wait before we start any treatments. This cancer is termed low-grade, meaning it is a slow growing cancer. With scans every few months, we hope to stay one step ahead of any new growth. This cancer, Fibromyxoid Sarcoma, is extremely rare in children Kadens age. There is not a lot of research or information out there written about it. Maybe through Kadens journey he can help teach the medical community what they need to learn and how to fight this demon. This will be a life long battle for our warrior. He will have to fight with this all his life. But we take comfort in knowing, he has some POWERFUL PRAYER WARRIORS behind him. We know with you all behind us, WE CAN BEAT THIS! WE ARE AND WILL REMAIN KADENSTRONG!!!!!
