Today we will celebrate the life of Geoff Naylor, i will not be able to speak at his service because I get too emotional and wouldnt be able to finish talking. I want you all to know what a great, fun loving, and caring friend he was. I have many memories of Geoff having grown up one street away in Lost Hills, but there are two instances in my life where Geoff stepped up and made a difference in my life. The first was when I was a freshman at Calabasas High, as most of you that know me know that my mouth could get me in trouble at times, (yes things have not changed so much... ) I had mouthed off to two older kids than me on another school bus, not thinking that these two would be at my school later that day... So, as school is letting out we use to go up to the upper basketball courts to smoke cigarettes before going home, those courts were just below the upper field at Calabasas High. So as I arrive to my surprise the two are there and proceed to start pushing me around and just as they were about to Beat my ass, Geoff and the football team were running up the ramp to start their practice, Geoff notices the look on my face and instead of letting me get beat down, he grabbed to very large players and they jogged back to where these guys had me against the wall. He steps in between me and them and says do we have a problem guys? One of the guys says no, but he does, pointing at me.. Without blinking he drops his helmet and shoulder pads and says, if he has a problem then so do I, and that means now you two have a very big problem.... Needless to say they left in a hurry and as Geoff walked away I thanked him, he turns to me and says, my sister thinks highly of you so I got your back whenever you need DeLuca and through my high school years he did have my back, I will never forget how important he made me feel that day, I mattered to him and I am still thankful for that. The second time he did something for me was such an amazing moment in my life because we had not seen or talked to each other for a few years, other than face book hellos and status responses. So my brother was very ill and we did not expect him to make it through his illness so I posted a few months back to please pray for my brother. And as most of you do the responses were heart warming and very supportive. Geoff being the caring man he was sent me a private message asking how I was doing, and although he was giving support for my brother, he was also very concerned for how that experience was taking its toll on me emotionally. He took the time to call me and let me know he was thinking about me and wanted me to know he was praying not only for my brother but for me too. That was Geoff, going that extra mile for his friends. I will miss that and although i am not one that buys into the he is in a better place mentality, I do believe he had a higher calling. Thank you Greg Naylor for being a positive influence in my life and for making me feel important over the years. God speed buddy, you are missed but this man will never forget you!
