Today we wrap on Paradise, FL. My thoughts: I spearheaded this - TopicsExpress

Today we wrap on Paradise, FL. My thoughts: I spearheaded this film because it was the necessary follow up to my first film The Lucky 6 which created a process by which feature films can be made in the summer time by and between film artists from Sarasota Educational Institutions. Building upon that process, required structuring Paradise, FL under a traditional for-profit filmmaking model. One where cash flow problems were solved and students/recent grads could be granted greater responsibility in their departments creatively and financially. In order to do so, supporters of summer filmmaking converted from donors to investors understanding that the merits of both were exactly the same. I am grateful to the Paradise, FL investors who believed that this project was worthwhile, and that I could deliver on my promises. Thank you investors. To have an effective after-life through acceptance into premier film festivals and with hopes of distribution, it was important to have a script that could get the attention of industry casting director, and it did just that in attaching Adrienne Stern. Through her efforts and the strength of the script we landed Kristopher Higgins (Devils Knot) repped by ICM and SAC Management, Mary Mara (ER) repped by the Greene Agency, and Lauren Sweetser (Winters Bone) repped by Pantheon Talent. Thank you Adrienne. The industry credibility of these talent will balance the terrrific performances from Asolo Conservatory actors in lead and featured roles, including alumni Jon-Michael Miller, Gretchen Porro, Brian Nemiroff, in addition to current acting students Jordan Sobel, Josh James, and Tom Harney. The cast also features beautiful work by Heather Robb (The Spring Standards) and Castille Landon (Among Ravens). The performances given in this film are unquestionably rich and deep. The actors took words from a page, and made them flesh and bone. As the screenwriter, I am grateful for each and everyone of these performances. Thank you actors. This team was directed by an artist whose work Ive always admired and whose future as a filmmaker is incredibly bright. Nick Morgulis is a talent as a director who needed a platform to showcase his ability and a project to leverage the furtherance of his work. I think Paradise, FL is just that platform for him. Only you could have done this. Thank you Nick. To the crew, you did this project for peanuts. You delivered a picture that belied your youth and your pay. 28 days of filming in the summer heat, you never came up short. This team, too many to list by name: producers, grips, electricians, art, camera, sound, locations, worked incredibly hard and steadfastly. This was the the perfect team, no questions about it -- the perfect team for this film and I am grateful. Thank you team. I am proud of everyone involved in this film. I am grateful to everyone involved. I will continue to work to safeguard your investment. Congratulations on a job well done. Thank you.
